Jeff, fly fishing on the Firehole River near Midway Geyser Basin
Yellowstone is known worldwide for it's trout streams.  Firehole River, and several other of the best streams, are fly fishing only with artificial bait only.  This time of year (end of June) fishing is prohibited on any of the streams or tributaries leading into Lake Yellowstone or any river.  The trout spawn in these areas during the month of June, and the bear have first dibs on fishing.

Jeff and Jennie were already fairly accomplished at fly casting by the time we arrived.  They had received training from two park guests willing to share their expertise.  While spin casting in Lake Yellowstone yields all the trout you would want, fly fishing in the rivers was found to be a much bigger challenge.
